About Us
The Faculty of Health Sciences Federal University of Lafia is dedicated to training Health Professionals who will provide Medical and Health Care along the goal lines of the University, which are practically build on, innovation, excellence, and integrity. The Faculty is simply headed by an erudite academia in person of Professor Surajudeen Alim Junaid as the Dean of the Faculty. In the interim there are three Departments domicile in the Faculty, and these are; Department of Nursing, Department of Medical Laboratory Science and the Department of Radiography. In line with the benchmark of the National University Commission (NUC), the University Senate gave approval for the commencement of the aforementioned programs and, thus the establishment of the Faculty in 2016, it is located at the takeoff site of the University. Principally the Faculty is targeted at providing broad-based academic professional training with competence is health care delivery and medical services. Since inception the Faculty has been collaborating with reputable institutions and professional bodies for the enhancement of quality service delivery particularly in teaching, research and community service.

Vision:
 To produce world class, graduate that can compete with ever growing population in the sub-Saharan Africa and the world in health Care delivery
Mission:
 To produce highly skilled health professionals that will globally transform the medical sector through the integration of cutting edge technologies and a commitment to academic excellence
Objective-
 To produce graduates with relevant technical and technological competence in the practice of health care at the primary, secondary and tertiary levels of health-care
 To produce professionals with a high level of proficiency in conventional radiography and with a good working knowledge of medical and clinical services
 To produce professionals who will be eligible for postgraduate studies, research and development
 Expand Access: Increase accessibility to education for diverse learners including those in remote areas
 Enhance Learning Technology: continuously optimize innovative technologies to improve the quality of online distance education
 Promote Pedagogical innovation: foster a culture of innovative teaching methods suitable for online and distance learning
 Ensure Academic rigor: maintain a rigorous academic standard for online programs to match traditional on-campus quality
 Implement Assessment practices: Develop effective methods for assessing students’ outcomes and program effectiveness
 Strengthen Collaboration: collaborate with industry partners, educational institutions and stakeholders

Suradjudeen Alim Junaid is a Professor of Medical Microbiology, a voracious researcher and a writer with over 40 publications in several prominent subjects’ areas in Medical Laboratory Science (MLS) and basically in the Medical and Clinical Health Sciences. In a row professor Junaid is the Deputy Provost of the College of Medicine Federal University of Lafia, Dean Faculty of Health Sciences and the Head of Department, Department of Medical Laboratory Science.
News Update
The Faculty of health sciences has undergone successful accreditation in the three (3) Departments, Nursing, Medical Laboratory science and Radiography. This was achieved in 2023.

Welcome Address

You are warmly welcome to the Faculty of Health Sciences, a pioneer Faculty in the College of Medicine, Federal University of Lafia. Our Faculty is a conglomeration of well selected intellectuals with vast experience in teaching, research and community service. The Administration of the Faculty is run by the Dean, the Heads of Departments, the Faculty Officer and other senior non-teaching staff, who are all very proficient in the day to day administration of the Faculty. The quality and timely services our staff render is one of the long standing experiences anyone would never forget. A sight at our sophisticated laboratory equipment and classrooms furnished with modern teaching aids and technologies will further juxtapose our closeness to being ranked one of the best Colleges of Medicine in the west African sub region and, perhaps globally. The Faculty of health science has a generation of discipline, dedicated and thorough Lecturers who give zero tolerance to any form of malpractice and indiscipline.
