About Us
The Department of Radiography is in the Faculty of Health Sciences, College of Medicine, Federal University of Lafia, Nasarawa State. The training in Radiography will prepare and produce graduates that will become confident and competent members of healthcare team with required knowledge that will transform the health sector at national and international level. Medical Radiography involves the use of ionizing radiation (including X-rays) and other forms of radiant energy such as ultrasound and nuclear magnetic resonance in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases. It is a profession in Medical Sciences that plays a vital role in diagnostic and therapeutic medicine. Over the years there has been remarkable scientific and technological advancement in the field of modern medicine to which University training is needed for proper understanding and application in medical care and diagnosis.
Our goals
i. To produce Radiographers with relevant practical and technological competence in the practice of radiography at the primary, secondary and tertiary levels of health-care delivery.
ii. To produce professionals with a high level of proficiency in conventional radiography and with a good working knowledge of other imaging modalities including Therapeutic Radiography.
iii. To produce professionals who will be eligible for postgraduate studies, research, and development.

HOD's profile
Dlama Zira Joseph is the Head of Department Radiography and Ag. Director Open Distance and e-learning, a Reader, and Immediate Past President of the Association of Radiographers of Nigeria, he was a Member Governing Board of the Radiographers Registration Board of Nigeria. Dlama Zira Joseph is also a Consultant in Radiation Safety and Dosimetry He has served in various leadership positions at National and international levels. He served in various capacities rendering administrative and community development services in addition to teaching and research. He has published quality works in reputable journals and attended international and local conferences. He has benefitted from many research grants and travel grants. He is a member of International Society for Radiographers and Radiologic Technologist (ISRRT), European Society of Radiology, and Nigerian society of Radiation Protection among others. He is passionate about Artificial Intelligence and International Public Health in Radiography

Admission Requirements
i. Direct Entry (4-year programme): candidates must possess a minimum of Grade of C as pass mark at Higher School Certificate or GCE Advanced level/IJMB or equivalent in Biology, Physics and Chemistry.
Candidates who possess first degree in one of the Science based disciplines, such as Biology, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Anatomy and Physiology could also be admitted at this level.
Direct Entry Requirement:
 Possess first degree or its equivalent in relevant field and must possess 5 passes at Credit level in English, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Physics.
 Candidate for Direct Entry must possess at least 2 A level passes with minimum C grade in physics and chemistry or biology, plus the above five credits at 'O' levels.
ii. UTME (5-year program)
 The UTME Combination for the requisite for the program is Biology/Chemistry/Physics
 Persons from 17 years and above
 Pass UTME and appropriate score during Post UTME screening test
 Must possess 5 credits passes in English, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Physics in not more than two sittings, together with a relevant pass in the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations (UTME) or Passing the X-ray/Darkroom Technician course from a recognized school by the RRBN with at least Grade C (Upper Credit).
