CENTRE FOR LEADERSHIP STUDIES

About Us
The relationship between positive leadership and development have since been underscored and validated by the critical place of the former in the transformation of society. For a young University such as the Federal University of Lafia that is in search of new spheres of knowledge to conquer, the specific focus on leadership studies is therefore well placed. The Federal University of Lafia Centre for Leadership Studies was established in July, 2023 to identify, harness, coordinate, package and propagate leadership values for the transformation of contemporary Nigeria and Africa. Specifically, the Centre seeks to be a leading research and training hub in Africa by providing relevant leadership knowledge and skill-sets from a broad spectrum and diverse perspectives. The Federal University of Lafia Centre for leadership Studies (FCLS) would prioritise research and capacity building as they relate with building positive leadership values, norms and skills for social change and development.

In executing the above, the Centre engages in numerous often inter-related activities including capacity building workshops, symposia, field research and conferences on numerous subjects and themes relating with leadership; networking and collaborating with national and international corporate bodies, research centres and institutions; residential fellowships and the publication of journals and cutting edge books on leadership, social change and development.
The Centre is poised to provide innovative solutions to the challenge of positive leadership in accordance with the core mandate and commitment of the Federal University of Lafia to academic excellence. Against the backdrop of the collapse of values and the consequent dearth of effective leaders in our society, the Centre is also sets out to instrumentalise positive leadership development through building capacity and nurturing requisite leadership skill-sets, anchored on sound innovative knowledge impartation, training and deliberate networking with disciplinary specialisations in the humanities in Federal University of Lafia and other allied research institutes in Nigeria and across the globe.

Welcome Address

Permit me to specially hail and salute you as you navigate our page. This is the Federal University of Lafia Centre for Leadership Studies where we prioritise leadership and followership as critical components of societal advancement and personal growth and development.

At the Centre, we recognise everyone as a leader, if not now then in the near future; bearing in mind the fact that, leadership is a dynamic and multi-layered phenomenon. In addition, our notion of leadership resonates with followership since the latter foregrounds the former in the change process.

Arising from this, the Centre commits to producing the next generation of leaders who are not only effective and well motivated, but adequately equipped with the requisite capacity to deliver on our development aspirations as a people and a nation in an ever-changing and complex world.

While acknowledging you as an important agent of change in this endeavour, we implore you to make the most of the opportunities the Centre would offer you to make that all-important and critical difference; and please, do remember to create and leave behind useful memories for posterity.
