About Us
The College of Medicine started as the Faculty of Basic and Health Sciences which later became Faculty of Medical Sciences and later College of Medicine following approval by the University Senate at its 75th Regular meeting. The College Started operation as a Faculty with three (3) Departments namely; Human Anatomy, Human Physiology and Medical Laboratory Science. The Faculty of Allied Health Sciences was later established. During the 2018/20219 Academic Session, the three Departments admitted students in their various programmes and on February 10, 2024, the Departments of Human Physiology and Human Anatomy graduated their first set of students. As at February 20, 2024, the College has additional Departments namely, Radiography, Nursing, Epidemiology and Community Medicine, Medical Biochemistry, Pharmacology and Therapeutics and MBBS programme.

Provost's profile
Professor Ali Is’haq Shugaba was appointed as Provost, College of Medicine on May 10, 2023. He is also the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Administration and a Professor of Human Anatomy (Histology and Clinical Anatomy).

As the Provost College of Medicine am charged with the responsibility of analysing issues, problems, concerns, and trends to determine the best course of action, and makes appropriate recommendation(s) to the Vice-Chancellor.

The College of Medicine is committed to both staff and students’ welfare, teaching, research, and community service. We have zero-tolerance to examination malpractice, sharp practices, criminalities, and drug/substance abuse.
