V-C inaugurates committees to tackle challenges in FULafia
The Vice-Chancellor, Federal University of Lafia, FULafia, Professor Shehu Abdul Rahman, has inaugurated three different committees to help him tackle challenges facing the University.
The committees are the Resources Mobilisation Committee, University Security Committee and Campus Sanitation and Beautification Committee to work hard to develop and attract resources needed to develop FULafia, charging the security Committee members to work with security agencies to secure lives and property of staff and students.
He reminded the members that nothing can be achieved in the University without the prevalence of security and, ultimately, peace.
On the task before the sanitation and beautification committee, the vice-chancellor observed that the need to maintain clean and beautiful environment cannot be overemphasised, appealing to staff and students to take the issue of hygiene seriously.
Prof. Abdul Rahman charged members of the committees to work for the betterment of the University, saying: “We all need to make sacrifices in order for us to have the beautiful and prestigious institution we want.”
He said that the reason behind establishing the committees was to “involve people in the operation of the University and also make everyone feel the sense of importance and belonging.”
Speaking earlier, the Registrar, Dr. Abubakar Mamuda, outlined the terms of reference of the three committees.
The Resources Mobilisation Committee is to be chaired by Prof. Al-Bishak. The University Security Committee would be chaired by Dr. Nasiruddeen Baba and the Campus Sanitation and Beautification Committee has Dr. Comfort Ukwela as its leader.
The management staff present during the inauguration of the committees by the Vice-Chancellor were the Registrar, Dr. Abubakar Mamuda, Bursar, Wilson Daniel, and the Librarian, Abiodun Olaide Iyoro.
