V-C Advises ASUU to join hands to develop University
The Vice-Chancellor, Federal University of Lafia, FULafia, Professor Shehu Abdul Rahman, has call on the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU FULafia Branch, to cooperate with him to make the University a world class centre of learning.
Professor Abdul Rahman, who gave the charge when the union members, led by their Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Al-Amin, paid him a courtesy visit in his office.
He urged the ASUU members to work with him in the pursuit of policies and programmes aimed at uplifting the standard of scholarship in FULafia.
The Vice-Chancellor told the union members that their visit at this point of time was important, telling them that he has reconstituted University committees to help him in solving the problem and challenges faced by the University.
He advised the Union to have the interest of the University at heart and invest in meaningful ventures and partnership with the University management, especially in the areas of teaching and research.
Professor Shehu Abdul Rahman informed the lecturers the projects he intended to execute during his tenure, including building of the union’s secretariat.
Speaking earlier, the ASUU (FULafia Branch) Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Al-Amin, said they were in the office of the Vice-chancellor to formally welcome him and congratulate him on his recent appointment as the third Vice-Chancellor of FULafia.
Dr. Al-Amin used the occasion to brief the Vice-Chancellor on the challenges of the academic staff in the areas of training and research grant, promotion and lack of office accommodation to serve as union’s secretariat.
