Use your position to dev. FULafia, Abdul Rahman urges staff

“We all have roles to play in promoting the image of our University,” said Professor Shehu Abdul Rahman, the Vice-Chancellor, Federal University of Lafia (FULafia).
Abdul Rahman stated that during a Ramadan lecture organised by Muslims working in FULafia.
The lecture, which took place, weekend, at the Adamu Adamu Lecture and Office Complex, Permanent Site Campus, FULafia, attracted the presence of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Idris Amali, University Librarian, Dr Abiodun Iyoro, clerics, many staff of the University and visitors from the state.
Abdul Rahman, who served as chairman of the occasion, specifically, called on Muslims staff of the University to “make sure that any position you hold, you add value to the University and, through that, you will also add value to Islam.”
He urged Muslims to be of good behaviours and serve as shining examples to others in the University, saying: “Support constituted authorities, obey rules and regulations, respect everyone and know that, above all, the life of a Muslim should be exemplary.”
He appealed to parents to guide their wards with a view to making them worthy members of society, adding that people must learn to use their time efficiently and judiciously, especially during the month of Ramadan.
While appreciating people for attending the lecture, the vice-chancellor thanked Allah for sustaining lives of people who attended the lecture to witness another Ramadan in good health.
Similarly, in his lecture, titled: “Basic injunctions of Ramadan fasting,” the lecturer, Dr M. T. Aliyu (Baitullah), said that “Muslims are, at all times and circumstances, expected to be thankful to their Creator.
He decried factionalism in Islam, calling on Muslims to unite themselves, “irrespective of where they stay, their tribe or creed, and serve Allah in unison as that is important to Allah.”
Saying that Muslims fast for the sole purpose of getting rewarded by Allah, Baitullah, a Deputy Dean, Faculty of Arts, FULafia, called on Muslims to shun things that vitiate fast such as sex, backbiting, rumour mongering, lies, eating and drinking during hours of fasting.
He, also, cautioned against excessive sleep during the day, urging Muslims to engage themselves in good acts such as reading of Qur’an, attending lectures, sharing of foods and spreading words of Allah.
He called on people to always cherish peace and work for the betterment of society.
Earlier, in his brief remark, Prof. Amali, who is the leader of the FULafia Muslims staff, said that the purpose of the lecture was to help Muslims live and practice good manners during the Ramadan period.
He thanked Abdul Rahman for making it possible for Muslims to start observing Friday prayer in the campus, saying that the development has made things easier for staff and increased their productivity.
Amali commended people for attending the lecture, en masse, in spite of their busy Ramadan schedules, praying Allah to reward the participants and safely return them to their home.
