Faculty of Basic Clinical Science

About Us
The Faculty of Basic Clinical Sciences, Federal University of Lafia (FULafia) was ratified by the senate of the University as far back as 2017 with the establishment of the College of Medicine in the university. The Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) program has started with the first batch of medical students in their second year and progressing steadily to enter the clinical years in the teaching hospital in 2024. The first eighteen months in clinical medicine focuses on 'Laboratory Medicine' in the departments of Anatomic Pathology & Forensic Medicine, Chemical Pathology & Immunology, Haematology & Blood Transfusion, Medical Microbiology & Parasitology, Clinical Pharmacology & Therapeutics. This faculty also supports other faculties under the 'College of Medicine' in FULafia.
This is an important part in the academic years of a medical student, as knowledge and skills gained are put into practice immediately in the clinical years. The learning platform has been structured to encompass several facilitation techniques and participatory learning methods (brainstorming, demonstration, case scenarios, role plays, video clips, lectures). The 'Multipurpose laboratories' will help achieve the goals and objectives of this faculty.
The Federal University of Lafia is committed to its values, ensuring integrity, excellence, and innovation in all its programs in the faculty. The quality of the programs supported by the Faculty of Basic Clinical Sciences will bring FULafia to the forefront and the best in the country in the future.
