Registrars are Pillars of University administration — Emir of Lafia

His Royal Highness, Hon. Justice Sidi Bage Muhammad 1, JSC (Rtd.)he Emir of Lafia, has described registrars as the pillars of university administration.
The emir asserted that “the support of a university registrar is critical to the effective implementation of policies and reforms that are formulated to guarantee good administration, maintain peace and order in any university.”

He stated this when the the Association of Registrars of Nigerian Universities (ARNU) paid him a thank you visit at his Palace in Lafia.

Welcoming the registrars to his palace in Lafia, the emir stressed the importance of the role played by ARNU, which he described as a critical stakeholder in university system, calling on members of the association to always lead by example.

“The success of our University education, or lack of it, depends on how much you are able to keep the universities going in a disciplined and orderly manner,” the traditional ruler said.
He expressed his happiness with the visit of ARNU members to his palace, saying that “Nasarawa State is a peaceful state and Lafia is a home to all Nigerians, irrespective of tribe, region or religion.”
The emir advised the registrars to work closely with the vice-chancellors to elevate the standards of education in the universities.

The ARNU Chairman, Dr Abubakar Mamuda, who is also the Registrar of FULafia, said they were at the palace to pay their respects to the emir who had earlier attended the opening ceremony of 69th Business Meeting of the ARNU which took in FULafia.
Mamuda thanked the emir for honouring their invitation and serving as royal father of the day.
He told the emir that the aims and objectives of ARNU included the “promotion of university education and strengthening administrative goals of universities.”
Mamuda, while informing the emir that the association was the umbrella body of all universities registrars in Nigeria, said that the association holds it meetings twice in a year with “Lafia chosen to host the 2021 69th Business Meeting with a theme; ‘Managing the Brick Walls of University Administration.”
