Welcome to FULAFIA

Federal University of Lafia is a Federal Government-owned institution established on 9th February 2011 as one of nine new federal universities created to expand access to quality higher education across Nigeria.

Located in Lafia, Nasarawa State, FULAFIA is committed to nurturing excellence, innovation, and integrity in teaching, research, and community service.

Our History at a Glance

2011: Established by the Federal Government as part of a nationwide expansion of federal universities

2011/2012: Commenced academic activities at a temporary take-off site on Obi Road, Lafia

2015 – 2018: Relocated to a 206-hectare permanent campus along the Lafia–Makurdi Road

2019: Name corrected to “Federal University of Lafia” in line with the Establishment Act, 2015

Today, FULAFIA has 16 Faculties, 82 undergraduate programmes, and 49 postgraduate programmes, with a student population of over 20,000.

Our Philosophy

We believe education must be relevant, of high quality, and impactful. Our research and community engagement are designed to address challenges in Nasarawa State and Nigeria at large, while preparing students to compete locally and globally.
