Muslim Ummah lauds FULafia V-C
|By Abubakar Ibrahim
The Muslim Ummah of Federal University of Lafia (FULafia) has lauded the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Shehu Abdul Rahman, for his support for religious activities on campus.
The group described the vice-chancellor as
as a leader whose style of leadership has created a higher level of trust, between him and his staff and engendered sense of belonging among adherents of religions in the University.
Speaking during a thank-you visit to the vice-chancellor at his office in Lafia, the leader of the delegation and deputy vice-chancellor of FULafia, Prof Idris O.O. Amali, commended Abdul Rahman for providing quality service and support to the development process of religious activities in FULafia.
Prof. Amali, specially, thanked Abdul Rahman for his untiring support to the efforts of the Muslims to upgrade the existing Juma’at mosque and construct a bigger one at the Permanent Site Campus of the University.
He prayed for Allah to continue to grant Abdul Rahman good health and wisdom to realise the good plans he has for the University.
In his response, the vice-chancellor expressed his gratitude to the delegation of the Muslim Ummah for the visit.
He, laudably, thanked them for being peaceful and useful ambassadors of the ummah in their departments.
Abdul Rahman, while describing leadership as service to God and humanity, said that his administration’s desire to promote religious activities on campus was based on that fact.
He decried the fact that
people are always after the quest to fulfill their economic and material pursuits in today’s world, adding: “But it’s religion that plays a crucial role in establishing our connection to Allah. Religion helps in building values like love, empathy, integrity, respect and peace.”
He called on, especially, deans, directors, heads of departments and units to be fair and just to staff for the University to enjoy peaceful and harmonious working relationships.
The highlight of the visit was the offering of special prayers by the Chief Imam of FULafia Juma’at Mosque, Dr Baitulah, for the vice-chancellor, Management and University Community in general.
