Let’s work together for peace, Abdul Rahman urges military, others

The Vice-Chancellor, Federal University of Lafia, (FULafia), Professor Shehu Abdul Rahman had called on the students, staff, community and security agencies, especially the military, to work as a team to deal with insecurity in the communities neighbouring the University.

This vice-chancellor made his call during his courtesy visit to the Commander, 4 Special Forces, (4SF) Command, in Doma Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, Major-General H.E. Nzan.

While commending the commander and other top officers present for their endless support to the University, Abdul Rahman pointed out that the visit was made to seek for ways to improve security within and around the University.

He said that his administration believed in adopting proactive measures in the fight against insecurity rather than to be reactive, calling on the military to always work with the University to achieve its goals of promoting peaceful learning environment.

Abdul Rahman, who was represented at the occasion by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Research and Partnerships, Professor Usman Samaila Dakyes, said that the University would put measures in place for the safety of lives and properties of staff and students.

Abdul Rahman stated that insecurity was everyone’s business, advising landlords and hotel owners to work together with the University to fight insecurity.

Speaking, the Commander, 4 Special Forces (4SF) Command, Doma Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, Major-General H. E. Nzan, thanked the vice-Cchancellor for the visit to the Command, saying that the visit would promote cooperation between the military and University.

Maj-Gen. Nzan promised that his men would work hard to make the University and its environs peaceful.
