The Lafia Staff Unity Forum (LSUF) has welcomed the newly appointed Registrar of the Federal University of Lafia (FULafia), Mr. Nuradeen Abdu, to the city of Lafia.
Abdu was, recently, appointed by the Governing Council of FULafia as the third registrar of the University while LSUF is the umbrella association of Lafia indigenes working in FULafia.
In a brief but memorable visit to the registrar, the Lafia Staff Unity Forum described Lafia as a peaceful and hospitable place for all, calling on Abdu to enjoy his stay in the city and take Lafia as his home.
The Chairman of LSUF, Mr. Musa Dahiru, who led members of the forum on the visit to the registrar, said that they were honoured to have Abdu in the city of Lafia, describing Lafia as a “mini Nigeria because it hosts different categories of people from different parts of the country.”
Dahiru said that members of the forum visited the registrar to express their love to him and wish him a successful tenure of office.
He said: “Lafia Staff Unity Forum will support you and pray for you to succeed.
The chairman stated that the forum would work with both the registrar and Prof. Shehu Abdul Rahman, the Vice-Chancellor of FULafia, to realise the dream of the University Management of making FULafia the fifth best university in Africa.
He listed some of the activities of the forum to include the orientation and sensitisation of both staff and students of the University and holding of tutorial programme for students with a view to preparing them for WAEC/GCE and JAMB examinations.
Also speaking, a member of the forum and Bursar of the University, Mr. Daniel Wilson, said that the forum would be friendly to Abdu through out his tenure of office.
He said: “As good ambassadors of the town, we’ll help and support you in the University so that you can have a successful tenure.”
In his response, Abdu expressed his gratitude to the forum for the visit, saying that “the visit is an indication that members of the Lafia Staff Unity Forum are united.”
He encouraged the forum’s members to keep working as a team for the benefit of the University.
“Let’s work together for the benefit of the University and for our children,” said Abdu.
The registrar, also, urged members to carry out their responsibilities for the development of the University.
While thanking them for identifying with him, Abdu solicited for their support and prayers to enable him succeed.
Highlight of the visit which took place at the Senate Chamber of the University, was the presentation of the special traditional meal known as “Madidi and Miyan Soye” to the registrar.
Among the many LSUF members present at the event were Zakari Shu’aibu, A’isha Lawal and Anwar Liman.
