In FULafia security’s major concern, says Abdul Rahman

The Vice-Chancellor, Federal University of Lafia (FULafia), Professor Shehu Abdul Rahman, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to ensuring the safety and security of students, staff and neighbouring communities.

Speaking during a stakeholders meeting held at the Management Multipurpose Information System (MIS) Multipurpose Hall, Permanent Site Campus, FULafia, Abdul Rahman emphasised the importance of intelligence gathering, proactiveness and use of whistle as measures to combat insecurity.

He said: “Our proactive approach to security matters underscores FULafia’s dedication to providing a safe and conducive environment for all to live in.”

Abdul Rahman, during the event, announced that the University would continue to organise workshops with a view to addressing security concerns and protect lives of students and staff.

He advised students to avoid fake lifestyles and hypocrisy, warning that such behaviours could land people in danger.

In his welcome address, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Administration, Professor Ali Ishaq Shugaba, said that “security is everyone’s business,” highlighting the University’s interest in the welfare of students and staff.

He called on stakeholders to join hands with the University’s Management to ensure adequate security for staff and students of the University.

Shugaba expressed his gratitude to the stakeholders for attending the meeting, thanking the vice-chancellor for providing the necessary support for the meeting to take place.

Others who spoke at the event included the Divisional Police Officer A Division, Lafia, unit commander, Armed Squad, representative of Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC), officer in charge of Anti-Kidnapping Unit, Lafia, officer in charge of Anti-Cult, Lafia, Nasarawa State, head of vigilante groups, Lafia, Nasarawa State, and head of the hunters association.

Present at the meeting were the Registrar, Malam Nuradeen Abdu, the Dean of Student Affairs, Prof. Sambo Hudu, leaders of FULafia neighbouring communities, heads of security agencies, landlords/caretakers, vigilantes and Students Representative Council (SRC) members.
