FULafia V-C cautions inter-campus transporters against crime

The Vice-Chancellor, Federal University of Lafia (FULafia), Prof. Shehu Abdul Rahman, has cautioned members of the University Inter-campus Shuttle Service Union against using their privileged situation to perpetrate, aid and or abet criminal activities on campuses.
The vice-chancellor gave the warning, recently, during the inauguration of the newly elected officials of the union which comprised of the two associations of tricycle and motorcycle riders.
The event took place at the Take-off Site Campus of the University.
Represented by the Chairman, Inter-campus Transportation Committee, Dr. Usman Ibrahim, the vice-chancellor said that the Management of the University was keenly monitoring activities of members of the union, promising to deal decisively with whosoever caught indulging in any act inimical to the peace, progress and stability of the University.
He assured members of the union of cooperation, calling on them to reciprocate the good gestures of the University by being law abiding and report any suspicious activities to the Security Unit for action.
The vice-chancellor said that his administration would introduce additional means of transportation between the two campuses of the University, hoping that doing so would facilitate movement of both staff and students.
“We are doing this to guarantee the welfare and safety of our students and staff,” he stated.
Speaking, the newly elected Chairman of the Tricycle Union of FULafia, Aliyu Dahiru Keana, who led the new officials, assured the vice-chancellor of his Union’s cooperation, saying that his members would adhere to the rules governing their conduct in and around the campuses.
He said that the union was ready to partner with the University to provide affordable and safe means of transportation in the University.
Also speaking, the Chairman of the Election Committee, Jeremiah J. Ombugutsa, expressed his appreciation to the vice-chancellor for the support the committee has received which led to the conduct of smooth, free and fair elections.
He urged the newly elected officials to justify the confidence reposed in them.
Those who attended the event were members of the University Inter-campus Shuttle Service Committee and officials and members of the union.
The newly elected officials of the FULafia Tricycle Association are: Aliyu Dahiru Keana, Chairman; Yusuf Adamu, Vice Chairman; Armayau Umar, Secretary; John A. Mbok, Financial Secretary; Idris Suleiman, Treasurer; Musa M. Kanje, PRO and Mohammed G. Abubakar, Provost-Marshal.
The following members were elected as the leaders of the FULafia Motorcyclists Association: Isiaka Audu, Chairman; Yusuf Umar, Vice Chairman; Kasimu Agudu, Secretary; James Madaki, Treasurer; Zakari Yakubu, Financial Secretary; Abdullahi A. Abdul, PRO and Tanko Zakari, Provost Marshal.
The Inter-campus Shuttle Service Union was inaugurated in 2020 and saddled with the responsibility of ensuring safe and affordable transportation system for both students and staff to and fro the Take-off Site Campus and Permanent Site Campus of the University.
