The Vice-Chancellor, Federal University of Lafia (FULafia), Professor Shehu Abdul Rahman, has advocated for a stronger working relationship with the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) to promote the image of the University.
The vice-hancellor spoke when the General Manager, NTA Lafia, Malam Sani Ibn Salihu, and his management team members paid him a courtesy visit at his office, recently.
Abdul Rahman described NTA Lafia as one of the strategic stakeholders of FULafia, saying that partnership between the two organisations would involve media coverage of activities of the university.
He pointed out that the University “will always be ready to work closely with organisations for mutual benefit.”
Abdul Rahman said: “My main focus is to improve the quality of the entire system and with the support of NTA Lafia, FULafia will achieve its set objectives”.
He pointed out that the envisaged partnership with the NTA would improve “quality of University personnel working in media related fields and also enrich undergraduates and postgraduate programmes.”
Abdul Rahman stressed the need for both organisations to sign memorandum of understanding, appreciating NTA for its coverage of University activities, especially during the public hearing held in the National Assembly on the bill for establishment of a Federal University Teaching Hospital, Lafia.
Earlier, the General Manager of NTA Lafia, Malam Sani Ibn Salihu, said they were at FULafia to partner with the University, considering the huge and rapid development of the University since Abdul Rahman was appointed as the third substaintive vice-chancellor of FULafia.
He described Abdul Rahman as focused and result-oriented administrator, saying that FULafia “is lucky to have Abdul Rahman as the vice-chancellor.”
He said that the NTA, as Federal Government agency, was ready “to give the University the desired coverage it needs.”
He commended the vice-chancellor for what he described as his “outstanding achievements that include improvement in quality of teaching and learning and working relationship among the University staff.”
