FULafia Mgt trains students leaders on leadership

The Federal University Lafia (FULafia) Staff Productivity Promotion Unit (SPPU), recently, organised a training workshop for leaders of students aimed at fostering positive relationships and effective communication with University’s authorities.
The training was titled: “Unlocking the Potential of Nigerian Students: Leadership, Innovation and Entrepreneurship.”
The workshop took place at the MIS Multi-purpose Hall on the University’s Permanent Site Campus.
Addressing the students, the Vice-Chancellor of FULafia, Professor Shehu Abdul Rahman, emphasised the need for ensuring proper channels of communication within the University.
He identified the students body as a vital stakeholder in the institution, stressing the significance of leadership training in addressing issues such as cultism and other social vices.
Encouraging students to make the most of the training, Abdul Rahman outlined key leadership qualities such as goal-setting, effective communication and application of due process in interactions with the University’s authorities.
He revealed the University’s plans to commence online examination, electronic voting platforms (E-voting) as well as improvement in security and welfare measures.
Additionally, the vice-chancellor disclosed the unveiling of a new dress code for students, warning against the misuse of social media platforms for organising illicit activities.
Key presenters at the workshop included Professor Shehu Abdul Rahman, Professor Usman Ibrahim, from ABU, Zaria, and Comrade Idris Shu’abu Abdullahi, a former president of the Students Representative Council of FULafia.
The topics covered at the event included how to be a good leader and balance between unionism and academic commitments.
The workshop was well-attended by students union and associations’ leaders, marking a significant step towards empowering the University’s students’ bodies through effective leadership training.
