FULafia gets three deputy vice-chancellors
The Governing Council of Federal University of Lafia at its 19th Regular meeting, May 18, 2023, approved the appointment of three Deputy Vice-Chancellors (DVCs) for the University as recommended by the University Senate. Those appointed are:
1. Professor Aleruchi Chuku (DVC Academic Affairs) Professor Aleruchi Chuku was born on 14th March, 1973 at Rumuche Emohua of Rivers state. She assumed duty in the University on 3rd December, 2012 as a Senior Lecturer in the Department Microbiology, Faculty of Science. She was promoted to the rank of Professor of Mycology on 1st October, 2020. She had served as Head of Department, Microbiology and in various University Committees. Professor Aleruchi Chuku is presently the Director of Academic Planning. She was recommended and found appointable by the Senate for the post of Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic Affairs).
2. Professor Ali Is’haq Shugaba (DVC Administration) Professor Ali Is’haq Shugaba was born on 21st December, 1959 in Lafia town, Nasarawa state. He assumed duty in the University on 11th October, 2021 as a Professor in the Department of Human Anatomy. He was promoted to the rank of Professor of Histology and Clinical Anatomy on 1st October, 2016. He had served in various University Committees. He is presently the Provost, College of Medicine of the University. He was recommended and found appointable by the Senate for the post of Deputy Vice Chancellor (Administration).
3. Professor Samaila Usman Dakyes (DVC Research and Partnerships) Professor Samaila Usman Dakyes was born on 1″ January, 1964 at Mangu in Plateau state.
He assumed duty in the University on 30th November, 2021 as a Professor of Forensic Graphics in the Department of Industrial Design, Faculty of Environmental Design. He was promoted to the rank of Professor (Forensic Graphics) on 1st October, 2016. He is currently the Dean, Faculty of Environmental Design. He had served in various capacity within the University System. He was recommended and found appointable by the Senate for the post of Deputy Vice Chancellor (Research and Partnerships).
