French Resource Centre

About Us
A Committee was established by the management of the Federal University of Lafia via an internal memo dated August 23, 2022 with reference no. FUL/REG/CCTTEES/057/VOL.II/006 signed by the Registrar, AlhajiNuradeen Abdu. The committee was headed by Prof. Mallam Al-Bishak, Director of Linkages and Advancement who served as Chairman. The committee had the following mandate: - “To develop a strategic plan to guide how the French Resource Centre will be administered.” However, the memo signed by the Registrar was received by the Chairman on Thursday, September 15, 2022. He, in turn, contacted other committee members, and scheduled meetings outside the University for Obvious Reasons. The committee was able to make very useful suggestion taking into consideration short and long term activities of the Centre.
Activities

1.Training of lecturers of French Resource Centre on teaching methodology. To equip the lecturers with the necessary teaching skills. Three lecturers of the centre were successfully trained on the modern methods of teaching French in such a way that learners will communicate in French in no distant time.
2.Normal classes To enable students to attend a good level of French. To generate funds for the French Resource Centre. The programme will start on the 11 of October. The students should be able to take DELF exams at the end of the classes.
3.Conversational classes. To enable students to interact fluently in French. To generate funds for the French Resource Centre The programme commences on 11 October. The students should be able to take DELF exams at the end of the programme.
4.Intensive classes. To enable students intending to travel abroad for studies or professional reasons to be able to communicate in a French speaking country. To generate funds for the French Resource Centre The programme commences on 11 of October. The students should be able to write DELF exams at the end of the programme.
5.Saturday classes. To enable students and workers obtain a certain level of French. To generate funds for the French Resource Centre The programme commences on the 11 of October. The students should be able to write DELF exams at the end of the programme From 11th October to 11th December
Aims & objectives
The aims of the Centre is to be a self –sustaining French institution with a robust revenue-generating program of activities and the following objectives;
1.Facilitate French teaching and learning.
2.Enhance the training of students, interested workforce and individuals within and outside the university in French language.
3.Encourage French language education for specific purposes.
4.Strengthen bilateral cooperation between Nigeria and France as well as the francophone countries.
5.Provide adequate research in French language studies.
6.Offer up-to-date laboratory facilities in French language studies.
7.Create a partnership with international organisations, government agencies, non-governmental organisation (N.G.O’s) and the University.
8.Develop teaching materials in French language.
9.Promote French language translation and interpretation on formal occasions.
10.Issue French language publications such as journals, magazines, modules, etc.
11.Attract funding from local, national, and international bodies as well as individuals.
