FCCPC partners FULafia on research, others

The Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission ( FCCPC) has concluded plans to partner with the Federal University of Lafia (FULafia) in the area of research and use of laboratories to enhance the quality in goods produced in Nigeria.
This was disclosed when a delegation from the FCCPC, led by Dr Nkechi Mba, the Deputy Director, Quality Assurance and Development Department, paid a courtesy visit to the FULafia Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Shehu Abdul Rahman, in his office in Lafia, recently.
Mba said that the FCCPC was concerned about developing and promoting fair, efficient and competitive markets in the Nigerian economy, facilitatatiom of access for all citizens to safe products and securing the protection of rights for all consumers in Nigeria.
She pointed out that they were in FULafia to find areas of collaboration between the two institutions with a view to promoting quality of products that would satisfy consumers’ need.
Mba said that the FCCPC was confident that working with FULafia, a lot would be achieved in ensuring the consumption of safe products.
She appreciated the vice-chancellor for the warm reception the University accorded them, saying that she looked forward to developing a rubost working relationship with the University.
The vice-chancellor, while welcoming Mba and her team to his office, expressed his gratitude to the FCCPC for finding FULafia a worthy partner to collaborate with.
He told the visitors that the University was willing to collaborate and partner with any institution, private or government owned, to bring development and improve quality of life of the people.
Abdul Rahman said that the Management of the University looked forward to working with the FCCPC for the benefit of Nigerians.
Other members of the FCCPC delegation were: Kemi Oladipo Assistant Chief Laboratory Scientist, Fatima .O Ojo, Assistant Director, Quality Assurance and Development, Mr Akonam, Jude O.

The Commission was established by the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Act (FCCPA) 2018 to, among others, develop and promote fair, efficient and competitive markets in the Nigerian economy, facilitate access by all citizens to safe products, and secure the protection of rights for all consumers in Nigeria.
