Special Needs Education and Rehabilitation Sciences

Dr. Adaka Terfa Ahon lectures in the Department of Special Needs Education, Federal University of Lafia (FULafia), Nigeria. Dr Adaka attended the College of Education, Katsina-Ala where he obtained his Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE) majoring in English/History, Adaka proceeded to the Bayero University Kano where he bagged BA(Ed) in Special Education. Dr Adaka also obtained M.Ed and Ph.D both from the University of Nigeria in Special Education. In terms of working experience, Adaka served at the FCT College of Education, Zuba-Abuja for his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) and was later employed by Federal College of Education (Technical), Gombe. Dr Adaka later transferred his services to the University of Maiduguri where he taught briefly before joining FULafia as a Faculty Member where he is today a Reader. Adaka has served as a panellist at National Commission for Colleges of Education (NCCE) accreditation of NCE Special Education program at the Colleges of Education, Minna and Gumel as well as the Federal College of Education (Special), Oyo and Umaru Waziri Federal Polytechnic, Birin Kebbi. Adaka is currently serving as External Examiner, Special Education Department, Universities of Calabar and Ibadan as well as Nasarawa State University, Keffi and College of Education, Minna. Dr. Adaka has over 70 scholarly articles published to his credit in reputable national and international journals as well as chapter contributions. Dr Adaka has the membership of National Association for Exceptional Children and National Association of Special Education Teachers where he previously served as National Secretary General and Deputy Editor respectively. In the University, Dr Adaka is currently serving as a member of University Students’ Disciplinary Committee, Board Member, Center for Agricultural & Rural Development Studies (CARDS), Head of Department, Special Needs Education & Rehabilitation Science and Deputy Director, Center for Disability Studies. Adaka is a Fellow of Chartered Institute of Leadership and Educational Development (FCILED), USA.
