Student Industrial Work Experience Scheme

About Us
The Students' Industrial Work Experience Scheme (SIWES) is a program initiated by the Federal Government of Nigeria. Its primary goal is to ensure that students in tertiary institutions acquire industrial-based skills and familiarize them with work ethics necessary for their future careers. One of its significant benefits is that it supplies the labor force with job-ready graduates.

Welcome Address

Welcome to the official website of the Directorate of Student Industrial Work Experience Scheme (SIWES) at the Federal University of Lafia. We extend a warm welcome to all visitors, including students, industry partners, faculty members, and stakeholders who contribute significantly to the success of our SIWES program.

In Nigeria, SIWES is a compulsory national program that connects theoretical knowledge from tertiary institutions with practical industry applications. It serves as a conduit between classroom theory and real-world practice, offering students hands-on experience, enhancing skills, and preparing them for the workforce. Through SIWES, students can create professional networks, apply classroom knowledge to real-world situations, and acquire critical workplace competencies by undergoing industrial training.

The Federal University of Lafia, through its SIWES Directorate, is dedicated to providing a conducive environment for students to excel during their industrial training. We collaborate closely with industry partners to ensure students receive quality training and exposure to cutting-edge practices across various fields. The experiences gained during internship are invaluable in shaping students’ future careers, preparing them to become industry-ready professionals. The SIWES program plays a vital role in preparing students for workplace challenges, and we are committed to its success.

I urge every student to approach their SIWES program with zeal, commitment, and a readiness to learn, seize the opportunity to pick up new abilities and broaden their knowledge.

I would like to thank our industry partners, the Nigerian University Commission (NUC) and the Industrial Training Fund (ITF), on behalf of the university management, for their support and commitment in nurturing the next generation of professionals.

We hope that every student has a fruitful and satisfying SIWES experience.
