Department of Entrepreneurship studies

The Department of Entrepreneurship Studies at the Federal University of Lafia was established in September 2019 within the Faculty of Management Sciences. It embarked on its educational journey by admitting students for the 2023/2024 Academic Session, under the leadership of Dr Mohammed Alkali the pioneering Head of the Department. The department prides itself on a dynamic academic curriculum designed to equip both faculty and students with the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in entrepreneurship research and scholarship, aligning with global best practices. The teaching methodology employed is in line with those of other world-class universities, ensuring students receive a comprehensive education that meets the standards prescribed by the National University Commission (NUC).

Dr. Mohammed Alkali is an accomplished academician, researcher, and administrator, specializing in Entrepreneurship and Management. With a rich educational background and extensive experience in academia, Dr. Alkali has made significant contributions to the field of entrepreneurship development and strategic management. Dr Alkali holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from the prestigious Ambrose Alli Ekpoma (AAU), obtained in 2007. He furthered his academic pursuits by acquiring a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU) in 2002, followed by a Postgraduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) from the same institution in 2000. Additionally, he earned a Postgraduate Diploma in Education from Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto, in 2007. Dr. Alkali culminated his academic journey with a Doctorate in Entrepreneurship from the esteemed University Malaysia Sarawak in 2016. Currently serving as an Associate Professor of Entrepreneurship and Management, Dr. Alkali has demonstrated exemplary leadership in various administrative roles within academia. He served as the Acting Dean of the Faculty of Management Sciences from 2020 to 2023 and as the Head of Department (HOD) of Business Administration from 2019 to 2021. Currently, he holds the position of Pioneer Head of the Department of Entrepreneurship Studies, where he continues to spearhead innovative initiatives in entrepreneurship education and research. Dr. Alkali is an active member of several professional organisations, demonstrating his commitment to continuous learning and professional development. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Classical Entrepreneurship of Nigeria, a Full Member of the Institute of Strategic Management of Nigeria, a Member of the Institute of Marketing of Nigeria, and a Member of Financial Analysis of Nigeria.
