Department of Business Administration

The Department of Business Administration at the Federal University of Lafia has a rich history that underscores its commitment to academic excellence and professional development. Established in the academic year 2019/2020 alongside the Department of Accounting, the department received Senate approval on May 10, 2018, marking the beginning of its journey in providing quality education in business administration.

Dr. Abdullahi Dauda is a seasoned academician and management expert with a diverse educational background and extensive experience in teaching, research, and administrative roles. His dedication to advancing knowledge in the field of business administration and management is evident through his academic qualifications, research contributions, and professional affiliations. Dr Dauda obtained his foundational degree, a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in 1991, followed by a Master of Science in Business Administration in 2014 and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in 2002, all from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Kaduna State. He furthered his academic pursuits with a Postgraduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) in 2019 from the University of Maiduguri and a Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) in 2013 from the National Teacher's Institute, Kaduna, Kaduna State. Dr Dauda capped his academic journey with a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Management from Bayero University Kano, Kano State in the 2020/2021 academic session. Dr. Dauda's career in academia began as a Lecturer in the Department of Business Administration and Management, where he served from 2007 to 2015 in Nasarawa State Polytechnic, Lafia,  Nasarawa State. He later joined the Federal University, Gashua, Yobe State, in 2015 as a faculty member in the Department of Business Administration, eventually being appointed as the coordinator in 2016. Dr. Dauda's commitment to academic excellence led him to the Federal University of Lafia, Nasarawa State in 2021, where he currently holds the position of Senior Lecturer. In recognition of his leadership capabilities and academic prowess, he was appointed as the Acting Head of the Department in 2023. Dr Dauda is a prolific researcher with a track record of publications in reputable 30 local and international journals. His scholarly contributions cover various aspects of business administration and management, reflecting his depth of knowledge and expertise in the field. Additionally, he has actively participated in 13 academic conferences and workshops, further enriching his understanding, and contributing to the academic discourse. Furthermore, he has graduated 25 postgraduate and 4 M. Sc students. Dr. Dauda is a member of several professional bodies, demonstrating his commitment to continuous learning and professional development. He holds membership in the Chartered Institute of Treasury Management, Nigeria (CITMN), the Nigeria Institute of Management (Chartered), and the Keffi Development Foundation (KDF). These affiliations underscore his dedication to staying abreast of industry trends and best practices in management and business administration.
