Mission Statement: The Department of VCA at Federal University of Lafia is committed to excellence in education, research, and creative practice. Our mission is to provide high-quality instruction in visual arts and design, facilitate artistic exploration and experimentation, and cultivate a supportive and inclusive community of artists and scholars. Aims and Objectives: Advance Education: - To provide a comprehensive and interdisciplinary education in visual arts, design, and creative media, covering foundational principles, technical skills, and conceptual frameworks across various artistic disciplines. Promote Research and Creative Practice: - To foster a culture of artistic inquiry, experimentation, and innovation through research-driven and studio-based practices, encouraging students and faculty to push the boundaries of artistic expression and explore new modes of creative production. Foster Collaboration: - To foster collaboration and interdisciplinary partnerships within the department, across the university, and with external organizations and communities, creating opportunities for artistic exchange, cultural dialogue, and community engagement. Empower Students: - To empower students to become skilled artists, designers, and creative professionals capable of navigating the complexities of the contemporary art world, contributing to cultural discourse, and making meaningful contributions to society through their creative practice.

Programmes: Undergraduate Programs: Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Visual Arts: - Description: A comprehensive program offering studio-based instruction in various visual art disciplines, including drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking, and mixed media. - Curriculum may include: Studio Art Courses, Art History, Contemporary Art Practices, Portfolio Development. Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Graphic Design: - Description: A specialized program focusing on the principles and practices of graphic design, including typography, layout, branding, and digital media. - Curriculum may include: Graphic Design Studio Courses, Typography, Digital Imaging, Web Design, Professional Practice. Graduate Programs: Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in Visual Arts: - Description: A terminal degree program offering advanced studio-based instruction and independent research opportunities for emerging artists. - Curriculum may include: Advanced Studio Practice, Graduate Seminars, Thesis Exhibition or Project.
