Mission Statement:
The Department of Christian Religious Studies at Federal University of Lafia is dedicated to providing high-quality education, fostering spiritual formation, and promoting ethical leadership grounded in Christian principles. Our mission is to equip students with the knowledge, skills, and values needed to engage critically with Christian tradition, contribute meaningfully to the life of the church and society, and live out their faith with integrity and compassion.
Aims and Objectives:
Advance Education:
- To provide a comprehensive education in Christian Religious Studies that encompasses biblical studies, theological reflection, church history, ethics, and practical ministry, enabling students to develop a deep understanding of Christian faith and practice.
Promote Spiritual Formation:
- To foster spiritual growth, personal reflection, and a vibrant faith community among students and faculty, encouraging practices of prayer, worship, and discipleship that deepen one's relationship with God and enrich one's Christian identity.
Foster Collaboration:
- To cultivate an environment of intellectual inquiry, dialogue, and collaboration within the department, across the university, and with external Christian communities and organizations, promoting ecumenical dialogue and interfaith understanding.
Empower Students:
- To empower students to become knowledgeable, compassionate, and ethical leaders equipped to serve in various Christian ministries, educational settings, social services, and other vocations, applying Christian values and principles to address contemporary challenges and promote social justice.

Undergraduate Programs:
Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Christian Religious Studies:
- Description: A comprehensive program offering a broad foundation in biblical studies, theology, church history, and Christian ethics, preparing students for ministry, further theological study, or careers in Christian education, counseling, or social services.
- Curriculum may include: Biblical Exegesis, Systematic Theology, Church History, Christian Ethics, Ministry Practicum.
Graduate Programs:
Master of Arts (M.A.) in Christian Ministry:
- Description: A graduate-level program designed to equip students for leadership roles in Christian ministry, providing advanced study in areas such as pastoral theology, preaching, counseling, and church administration.
- Curriculum may include: Advanced Biblical Studies, Pastoral Counseling, Homiletics, Church Administration, Field Education.
Master of Divinity (M.Div.):
- Description: A professional degree program preparing students for ordained ministry, pastoral leadership, chaplaincy, or other forms of vocational ministry within Christian churches and organizations.
- Curriculum may include: Theological Reflection, Spiritual Formation, Ministry Praxis, Supervised Internship, Advanced Theological Studies.
