Emir Bage expresses confidence in Gov Council of FULafia

The Emir of Lafia, His Royal Highness, Hon. Justice (Dr.) Sidi Bage Muhammad I, CFR, JSC (rtd), has expressed his optimism about the future of Federal University of Lafia’s (FULafia) following the inauguration of its new Governing Council.

The Emir stated this when the Chairman of the new Governing Council, Hon. (Mrs.) Lola Fibisola Akande, and Vice-Chancellor of FULafia, Prof Shehu Abdul Rahman, led members of the Governing Council of the University on a familiarisation visit to his palace in Lafia

He commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for appointing competent people into the council of the University.

The emir emphasised the crucial role of the Governing Council in the University’s development, saying that “I do not doubt that you have the capacity to do the job very well.”

The traditional ruler assured the University of his council’s support, calling on members of the Management team to work together with the Governing Council to achieve successes.

The vice-chancellor, who spoke earlier, told the emir that their visit was aimed at introducing to him members of the University’s Governing Council recently inaugurated by the president and to express appreciation to the emir for his prayers and support to the University.

He, however, added: “Your Royal Highness, we also here greet you and seek the royal father’s blessings for the new council.”

Abdul Rahman, then, presented to the emir Hon. (Mrs.) Lola Fibisola Akande, the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council of the Federal University of Lafia.

In her address, the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Council of FULafia, Lola Fibisola Akande, expressed her gratitude to the emir for creating time to receive her and other members of the council.

She said that she was at the palace to solicit for the emir’s prayers and support.

“We are here to seek your royal blessings because doing so will enable us to provide the kind of leadership that the University needs to develop,” the pro-chancellor said.

She used the occasion to call on the people of Lafia to see themselves as critical stakeholders of the University and contribute to the development and security in the institution.

Accompanying Mrs Akande were members of the Governing Council and Management staff of the University, including:

External Members of Council: Mr. Stephen Odeleye, Dr. Ahmed A. Sule, Dr. Amos Gizo and Mr. Dahiru Haruna.

University Management Team: Vice-Chancellor,

Prof. Aleruchi Chuku, DVC Academic Affairs, Prof. Ali Ishaq Shugaba, Deputy Vice-Chancellor Administration, Prof. Samaila U. Dakyes, Deputy Vice-Chancellor Research and Partnerships, Malam Nuradeen Abdu, Registrar/Secretary to Council, Dr Daniel Wilson, Bursar and Prof. Abiodun Iyoro.

Internal Members of the Council include: Prof. Ilemona Adofu, Prof. Muhammad Aliyu Tanko, Prof. (Mrs.) Halima Idris Amali, Dr. Stella Adejoh, Dr. Dlama Joseph Zira and Mr Musa Dahiru.
