Activities
The Directorate of Academic Planning is implementing the following activities:
i.Routine check on University lecture halls and classrooms infrastructure
ii.Coordinate the preparation of lecture and examination timetables
iii.Analysis of staff and students data
iv.Preparation of University Academic calendar
v.Preparation for Resource Verifications of both Undergraduate and Postgraduate programmes
vi.Preparation for Accreditation of undergraduate programmes

Aims & objectives
1. Contribute to the strategic development of the university by aligning academic priorities with institutional goals and objectives. This involves identifying areas for academic growth, innovation, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
2. Enhance the quality and relevance of academic programmes, which includes promoting excellence in teaching and learning, fostering research and scholarship, and ensuring the continuous improvement of curriculum and instructional practices.
3. Optimize the allocation and utilization of resources to support academic initiatives effectively by advocating for adequate funding, facilities, and faculty development to enhance the overall academic experience.
4. Ensure accreditation and compliance with academic standards by preparing for accreditation reviews, maintaining quality assurance processes, and implementing policies that uphold academic integrity and accountability.
5. Promote culture of innovation and best practices in academic planning and delivery using pedagogical innovations, leveraging technology for teaching and learning, and supporting faculty development initiatives.
6. Develop new academic programmes and reviewing existing ones to ensure alignment with industry needs and educational trends.
7. Conduct institutional research on student outcomes, faculty workload, and other key metrics to inform evidence-based decision-making.
8. Implement strategic plans that enhance the university's academic reputation and competitiveness.
9. Ensure implementation of quality assurance mechanisms, including programme assessments, student feedback systems, and faculty evaluations.
10. Facilitate collaboration among academic departments, administrative units, and external stakeholders to promote interdisciplinary initiatives and resource-sharing.
11. Support the provision of professional development opportunities for faculty and staff to enhance teaching effectiveness, research productivity, and leadership skills.
12. Enhance student success by implementing policies and practices that support retention, graduation rates, and overall student satisfaction.

It is my pleasure to welcome you to the Directorate of Academic Planning, Federal University of Lafia. As the Director, I am proud to lead a dedicated team committed to ensuring the highest standards of academic quality and excellence across our institution.
We welcome you to our site. The Academic Planning Directorate of the University of Lafia is a Division under the office of the Vice Chancellor. It is located at first floor in the main administrative block of the university. The Division provides a range of management information and planning support to facilitate informed decision–making, planning and policy formulation, and the overall strategic development of the University. The office is the initial point of contact on matters relating to statistical information to both internal and external communities. The role of the Academic Planning Division is to provide timely and accurate information to the stakeholders and regulators for planning and managerial decision-making, drive top global ranking, channel key University investigative research into areas of needs, internalise inclusive policies and student – centred learning, coordinate compliance reporting activities and enhance management decision- making. The Division has always advocated quality education as priority supported by a dynamic dashboard. These pages will take you through the identity, activities, and policies of the Division.
