ABU Alumni Assoc. names FULafia VC as patron

The Vice-Chancellor of Federal University of Lafia (FULafia), Professor Shehu Abdul Rahman, has been appointed the Patron of Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Alumni Association, Nasarawa State Chapter.
His appointment was made known during a courtesy visit to his office, in Lafia, by the executive committee members of the association, led by the Nasarawa State Chairman, Engr. Sidi Muhammad Sani.
Sidi said the appointment of Prof. Abdul Rahman as patron was done in recognition of his contributions to national development which the ABU Alumni Association Nasarawa State Chapter, was proud of.
According to him, the mandate of the association is to promote, defend, build and enlighten its members through conferences, symposium and workshop aimed at creating awareness among the populace and strengthen nation building process.
Sani stated that the ABU Alumni Association, Nasarawa State Chapter, was proud to have some very distinguished personalities as its members in the state.
He listed some of them to include the Emir of Lafia, Hon. Justice Sidi Bage Muhammad I, JSC rtd, immediate past governor and now a Senator representing Nasarawa South Senatorial District, Umaru Tanko Al-Makura and Prof. Shehu Abdul Rahman, among many others, describing ABU products across the globe as exemplary.
The chairman enumerated some of the association’s plan to include building of a befitting state secretariat.
Speaking, Prof. Abdul Rahman expressed his appreciation to the ABU Alumni Association for the recognition given to him, saying “this will stimulate me to do more.”
He added: ‘We, the ABU Alumni, have a lot to contribute to FULafia and the nation.”
He urged the association to identify some areas that two bodies could collaborate for their own development.
Highlight of the event was the presentation of letter of appointment to Abdul Rahman.
In attendance during this visit were the Registrar, Nuradeen Abdu, Dean of Faculty of Industrial Design, Prof. Samaila Dakyess and Chairman, Anti-corruption and Transparency Unit (ACTU), FULafia, Prof. Adams Sirajudeen.
