The Vice-Chancellor, Federal University of Lafia (FULafia), Prof. Shehu Abdul Rahman, has visited some staff of the University and sympathised with them over some ugly incidents that befell them.
It would be recalled that the vice-chancellor has made it his habit since his assumption of office to identify with staff and students of the University in both good and bad times.
It was in demonstration of that show of love that he, together with the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Idris Amali, visited some staff of the University.
The visit, which occurred on Friday, saw Abdul Rahman and Amali going, first, to the house of a motor car accident victim, traumatised staff who was recently released from the kidnappers den and a bereaved staff whose son died as a result of car accident which, sadly, took place along the Lafia-Akwanga road.
Speaking during his visits, the vice-chancellor said that the well-being of his staff and students meant a lot to him, adding that “without them, my dream for the University cannot not be achieved.”
He described workers as the vehicle that drives the wheel of development of the institution, pointing out that he attached great significance to their contributions and good health.
Those visited by the vice-chancellor were Prof. Mallam Al-Bishak, the Director of FULafia Directorate of Linkages and Advancement (DL&A), who, recently, got involved in a motor accident and Mr. Ma’aji Liman, a staff of the Centre for Continuing Education of the University who recently, regained his freedom from his kidnappers.
Prof. Abdul Rahman also condoled with Musa Yahaya, the driver of Prof. Amali, whose son, Mohammed Musa Yahaya, this week, died from motor accident.
In their separate responses Prof. Mallam Al-Bishak, Ma’aji Liman and Musa Yahaya expressed their appreciation to the vice-chancellor and his deputy for the visit, saying that the visit has strengthened their love for Abdul Rahman and his lofty ideas of developing the University.
They prayed the Almighty God to grant the vice-chancellor good health and wisdom to continue to pilot the affairs of the University in the right direction.
