Abdul Rahman promises to promote sporting activities in FULafia
The Vice-Chancellor, Federal University of Lafia (FULafia) Prof. Shehu Abdul Rahman, has described sports as a venture which the University is eager to invest in.
Prof. Abdul Rahman stated so when the staff of the Sports Directorate of FULafia paid him a congratulatory visit at his office.
Abdul Rahman, maintained that his vision “is to see FULafia Sports Directorate train and manage professional athletes who could be marketed all over the world to make the University visible and, in the process, keep staff and students physically and mentally fit.”
He said that he would promote sports in the University, promising to address the major challenges confronting the directorate.
The vice-chancellor, while commending the successes so far recorded by the University’s sportsmen and women, encouraged the authorities of the directorate to educate faculties on their activities so as to “bring everyone on board for the development of sports in the University.”
In his remarks earlier, the Head of Sports Directorate, Mr. Simeon Onah, said that they were at the of the vice-chancellor’s office to congratulate him on his recent appointment as the third vice-chancellor of FULafia.
Onah, recounting the successes recorded by the directorate, told the vice-chancellor that a graduate of FULafia, now plays for Jigawa United Football Club.
Present at the event were Mr. Daniel I. Yakmut, the Director, ICT, Mr. Farouk Neslea, from Academic Affairs, and other members of the sports directorate.
