Abdul Rahman hosts department of English and Modern Languages staff

The Head of Department of English and Modern Languages, Dr Halima Amali, has, recently, presented copies of the departmental journal, Kalangu, Vol.1, No2, to Vice-Chancellor, Professor Shehu Abdul Rahman.
Dr Amali was accompanied to office of Abdul Rahman to present the journal by other staff of the department.
The Kalangu is an interesting journal which made its debut in 2019.
Dr Amali, who is the Editor-in-Chief of the publication, said that the journal was named after a talkative African musical instrument of the northern nigerian origin called Kalangu.
She said that the journal had gained wide acclaim, making its distribution among universities and colleges of education across the country easy.
In her remarks, Dr Halima Amali commended her staff for their determination to develop the young department to enviable height.
She, however, appealed to the vice-chancellor to appoint more professors in languages, senior lecturers and assistant lecturers.
She also appealed for relocation of the language laboratory from the temporary to the Permanent Site Campus of the University.
In same vein the editor, of the Kalangu Journal, Dr A.A. Agantiem, requested for financial support from FULafia to sustain the production of the journal.
While responding, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Shehu Abdul Rahman, commended the efforts of the department, advising the editorial team to maintain global standard and strive to give the journal wider outlook through the school website and other mediums.
He promised to look into issues that could hinder regular production of the journal and facilitate moving the language laboratory for better use.
Prof. Abdul Rahman also promised to look into the issue of promotion of the staff in the University.
