About Us
Federal University of Lafia being one of the 12 Federal Universities established in February 2011 by the Federal Government of Nigeria took off its operations almost immediately with Bursary Department as one of its earliest departments. The Bursary department headed by the Bursar is responsible to the Vice-chancellor for the day-to-day financial affairs of the University. The department in Federal University of Lafia became operational in 2011 headed by Mrs. Rebecca Jato who was a Principal Accountant from University of Agriculture, Makurdi and four (4) other staff manning the department till 2012 when more staff were employed into the department and today, the department has over One Hundred Staff (100) distributed across various units. In December, 2011 Deac. (Dr.) Uvara, Stephen E. assumed duty as Chief Accountant and Head of the Department unit his promotion to Deputy Bursar and appointed on acting capacity to oversee the activities of the department up to May, 2015 when he was appointed the substantive and pioneer Bursar of the department for a five (5) years tenure which lasted up to 4th May, 2020 when Mr. Daniel A. Wilson took over the office as Bursar. Today, the department has four (4) Divisions headed by Deputy Bursars with several units under the divisions.

Welcome Address

The Bursar, on behalf of the entire staff of Bursary Department welcomes you to the Department where Professionalism, accuracy, integrity, honesty and dedication to duty are our watch words. The Bursary department operates via units and finance officers. The Bursary Department is responsible for the collecting, recording, safe-keeping, managing, and reporting the finances of the University.

 

Profile of the Head of Department

The Bursary Department is currently headed by Mr. Daniel, Anjola Wilson. Mr. Wilson was born on the 28th October, 1971 in Enugu-Ezike in the then Anambra State. He completed his primary school 1984 at the Nigerian Army Children School, New Cantonment A, Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA), Kaduna state. He went to Army Day Secondary School, Chindit Barracks, Depot Nigerian Army where he completed his secondary education and obtained His SSSCE in December, 1990. He is a holder of National Diploma (Distinction) in Financial Studies 1996 and Higher National Diploma (Distinction) in Accountancy 1999 from The Federal Polytechnic, Nasarawa. Mr. Daniel A. Wilson went to Nasarawa State University Keffi where he obtains a Postgraduate Diploma in Accounting and Finance (Distinction) 2010, B.Sc. Economics (Second Class Upper) August 2014, MBA (Finance) January, 2014 and M.Sc. Economics, 2018.
