Special Independence Message from the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Shehu Abdul Rahman

On behalf of the Management of the Federal University of Lafia (FULafia), I wish to congratulate the entire University Community on the occasion of Nigeria’s 61st Independence Anniversary.

The Independence celebration offers us another opportunity to recognise and appreciate the blessings inherent in our multi-ethnic country as well as highlights the need for us to work together for the peace and common good of Nigeria.

The situation, of course, applies to our dear University, with people coming from diverse backgrounds working together to, harmoniously, develop FULafia.

However, while I appreciate efforts and sacrifices that our staff and students make, on daily basis, to, in line with my vision, make FULafia one of the five best in Africa, I want to use this opportunity to say that, individually and collectively, we can do greater things and offer more for FULafia.

Therefore, on this memorable day of Nigeria’s Independence, I thank staff and students of FULafia for the continued support, hard work, discipline and commitment to build a better FULafia.

I urge you to use the occasion of the celebrations to ponder and reflect on our collective desire to engender and sustain peace in our University and continue to work with, and support, authorities, rules and regulations.

Let me also use this opportunity to congratulate the Government and people of Nasarawa State on the attainment of the state’s 25 years since its creation.

Finally, I call on Nigerians to continue to pray for the peace and prosperity of our nation.
