The Federal University of Lafia (FULafia) considers mobilising resources through deploying its expertise to the training of personnel in other institutions.
The Head of the Staff Productivity Promotion Unit (SPPU) of the University, Mrs. Helen Bello, recently made this known.
Mrs. Bello spoke during a two-day training organised for the three newly appointed deputy vice-chancellors and other principal officers of the University which took place at the AWA Diamond Hotel and Conference Center, Lafia, Nasarawa State.
She said that the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Professor Shehu Abdul Rahman has since his assumption of office put in place an effective training mechanism for the University, describing the mechanism as one of the best that could be found anywhere in the country.

Mrs. Bello, who described the blueprinting and strategic priorities of the vice-chancellor as one that was capable of transforming the University to an enviable position, lamented, however, that the paucity of funds could hinder the University from achieving its desired goals.
She said that the Federal University of Lafia as a fledgling institution, needed to consider moblising resources through the conduct of external training for institutions within and outside Nasarawa State.
She called on the vice-chancellor to constitute an external training committee for the University, saying that financial resource was essential for achieving both the short term and long term goals of the University.
She said: “Educational institutions have to mobilise their financial resource to cope with the changing needs of education. The modern educational institutions are different to the traditional institutions. Modern educational institutions have to be well equipped with technological inputs. Day by day new changes are happening in the educational field, specially in teaching and learning process. So, to bring these changes into the institution, one should have sufficient financial resources. Luckily, our University has a veritable means of mobilising resources through training.”
It would be recalled that since his assumption of office more than two years ago, the vice-chancellor has prioritised training and retraining of all cadres of staff in the University.
