Use your associations to promote culture, Abdul Rahman tells students
|By Mary Ishaya
The Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Lafia (FULafia), Prof. Shehu Abdul Rahman, has called on students in the institution to use socio-cultural associations to promote culture.
Abdul Rahman gave the advice when he received the leadership of the Awe Students Association (ASA) in his office, at Lafia, recently.
He said that leaders of socio-cultural associations have important roles to play to promote cultural heritages and mould character of members, adding: “Culture plays an important role in the development of character of especially the young people. In the culture of each ethnic group, there are values that guide the community.”
He advised students to be forthright in their relationships with others, heed advice of staff and obey the rules and regulations of the University.
He urged associations in the University to ensure that they were properly registered with the Students Affairs Division before conducting any activities on campus.
Speaking on the purpose of their visit to the vice-chancellor, the leader of ASA, Alhassan Mohammed Rabiu, said they were in his office to introduce themselves and inform him that ASA was ready to collaborate with the Management to promote the core values of the University – integrity, innovation and excellence.
Rabiu, on behalf of other members, asked for the vice-chancellor’s blessing and advice on how to be exemplary students.
