Arrangements have been concluded by the Federal University of Lafia (FULafia) to work with Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN) for training of its staff.
The Vice-Chancellor, FULafia, Professor Shehu Abdul Rahman, stated this when the executive members of ANAN, led by the President, Professor Muhammad Akaro Mainoma, visited to congratulate on his recent appointment as the third vice-chancellor of FULafia.
He told the ANAN officials that his administration would regularly send staff of FULafia to ANAN for training, adding the University would always uphold and promote the principle of good accounting system.
“In FULafia, we respect good accounting system because we believe that it is only by doing so that we can enshrine the principles of transparency, accountability and honesty in the management of our resources,” Abdul Rahman said.
Delighted by the visit, the vice-chancellor stressed that “accountancy is our priority programme,” explaining that “a university without good accounting of its finances, is a university bound to collapse because in modern world or scientific world, we need good financial management to survive.”
While wishing ANAN fruitful training of accountants, the vice-chancellor appealed to the president to send some staff of the association to enlighten both staff and students of FULafia about ANAN activities to boost respect, efficiency and accountability in financial management.
Earlier, the President of ANAN, Prof. Mainoma, said they were in Nasarawa State for a mandatory training of the association’s members on the impact of COVID-19 pandemic, adding that the executives deemed it fit to pay a courtesy visit to FULafia “because it’s one of our association’s strategic partners in progress.”
Mainoma congratulated Shehu Abdul Rahman on his appointment as the vice-chancellor, describing him as a prudent, accountable, honest and competent manager of resources.
He said that with the experience of the vice-chancellor and his competence, the University was destined to attain greater heights.
While assuring the vice- chancellor of ANAN support to the institution, he appealed to him to enhance the capacity of the University’s accounting staff through sending them for regular training at ANAN.
