Work with me to develop FULafia, says Vice-Chancellor Abdul Rahman

Less than a month after he assumed office, the Vice-Chancellor, Federal University of Lafia (FULafia), Professor Shehu Abdul Rahman, has appealed to staff and students to join hands with him to make the University better, bigger and formidable.

“I invite you all to come and work with me, help me, to build our University and make it among the top five universities in Africa,” Abdul Rahman said.

He, however, reminded the people that the dream of making FULafia a world class University can only be realised if “we all work to sustain and promote the core values of FULafia, namely, integrity, innovation and excellence.”

Professor Shehu Abdul Rahman spoke, recently, during University’s Congregation held at Mallam Adamu Adamu Lecture Hall, in the Permanent Site Campus of FULafia.

The Vice Chancellor said: “My plans is to work, closely, with stakeholders who are interested in building FULafia, not with those interested in pulling it down.”

He called on the congregants to see the development of the University as a collective duty, saying: “It’s not about Professor Shehu Abdul Rahman or the administration he leads, it is all about the future of our University.”

Abdul Rahman, while appreciating those who supported him during his struggle to emerge as the third vice-chancellor of FULafia, appealed to his opponents to forget the past, accept Allah’s decision on the matter, and be part of his hopefully successful administration.

“We may have our differences,” the vice-chancellor said, adding that “those differences are not half as important as the need for us to work together to develop this institution and exit it better than we met it.”

FULafia is healthily developing, he said, adding, however, that better days are ahead.

He reminded that leadership comes from God, emphasising the need for all stakeholders of the institution to unite and work for the common goal of making FULafia among the best universities.

While thanking God for giving him the opportunity to become vice-chancellor of FULafia, Professor Shehu Abdul Rahman pledged to discharge his duty effectively, efficiently and with fear of God.
