Rural Electrification Agency commences EPP programme in FULafia

The Energising Education Program (EEP) of the Federal Government has reached it advanced stage of implementation at the Federal University of Lafia (FULafia).
This development was made known by the Team Leader, Engineering and Technical Specialist of the Rural Electrification Agency (REA), Engr. Chigbo Nwafor, during a Pre-Bid Inspection meeting held with contractors at the Permanent Site Campus of the Federal University of Lafia, recently.
He said the EPP was an initiative of the REA aimed at providing 24-hour power supply to universities’ campuses.
Engr. Nwafor said that FULafia was one of the universities selected to benefit from the phase III of the project, adding that the design phase of the programme had been concluded and Request For Bid’s (RFB) for the Energising Procurement and Construction (EPC) contractors who would build the power plant and related component had been advertised.
He told the Vice-Chancellor of FULafia, Prof. Shehu Abdul Rahman, that the bid opening would hold on May 25, 2023, in Abuja.
He said: “The REA team and the contractors were in FULafia to enable the prospective EPC bidders at the University to survey the project site and gain a better understanding of the scope of work prior to the submission of their bid.”
Nwafor thanked Abdul Rahman for University’s support for the successful implementation of the EEP phase III.
While welcoming the REA team and the contractors to the Federal University of Lafia, Abdul Rahman expressed his gratitude to the Federal Government for considering FULafia for the implementation of the EEP.
Represented by the Registrar of the University, Malam Nuradeen Abdu, Abdul Rahman said the project, when completed, would enhance the quality of teaching and learning.
Those in attendance the event included the Head of the Physical Planning Unit, FULafia, Yusuf Obiya, and the representative of the Director Works, Engr. Riyadh A. Ojulari.
The event took place at the Old Senate Chamber, Permanent Site Campus, FULafia.
