Let’s work together to better our universities, Prof. Abdul Rahman tells FU Lokoja counterpart

The Vice-Chancellor, Federal University of Lafia (FULafia), Prof. Shehu Abdul Rahman, has called on the authorities of universities established in 2011 by the administration of ex-president Goodluck Ebele Jonathan to work closely together to better the lots of their institutions.
Abdul Rahman made the call during his recent visit to his counterpart, the Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Lokoja, Prof. Olayemi Akinwumi, in his office at the Felele Campus in Lokoja, the capital of Kogi State.
The FULafia vice-chancellor, who spoke very highly of his host, suggested that the 12 universities created by the then Jonathan-led administration would do better if they met and identified areas of common interest to them.
Abdul Rahman said: “Collaborative relationship is key to our collective development.”
He expressed his happiness with the progress made in FU Lokoja since the coming of Akinwumi as the vice-chancellor, saying that he was not surprised “because I know the vice-chancellor as a man who is concerned about quality and standards.”
He used the occasion of the visit to congratulate the vice-chancellor and entire community of FU Lokoja for moving to the permanent site of the University.
Abdul Rahman also wished the University well ahead of its 5th Convocation Ceremony billed to hold next week.
Receiving the FULafia delegation in his office, Professor Olayemi Akinwumi described Abdul Rahman as a friend, colleague and brother whom together, “worked and acquired the requisite administrative experience under the renowned Prof. Adamu Baikie, a distinguished educationist, academician and university administrator.”
It would be recalled that Baikie was the pioneer vice-chancellor of the Nasarawa State University, Keffi, Nasarawa State.
He thanked his FULafia counterpart for the visit, expressing his optimism that mutual collaboration between and among universities would provide opportunity for peer review and promote the spirit of good administration.
Akinwumi praised the FULafia vice-chancellor for the visit, wishing him safe return to Lafia.
Those who accompanied the vice-chancellor to the visit included Dr llemona Adofu; Director, Centre for Entrepreneurial Development; Dr Usman Ibrahim, Director, FULafia Consult Ltd; Wing Cmnd. Umar Mohammed Awe (rtd), FULafia CSO; Bashir Ozomata, Personal Secretary to the Vice-Chancellor, and Haruna Angulu, the Personal Assistant to the Vice-Chancellor.
