FULafia trains heads of departments, examination officers on acceptable academic standards for lectures, examinations

Federal University of Lafia (FULafia), has organised a one-day training programme for heads of departments and examination officers on acceptable academic standards for lecturers and examinations in the University.
The training was put together by the Academic Monitoring Sub-Committee of the Professors’ Forum in conjunction with the Staff Productivity Promotion Unit.
The event was held at the Adamu Adamu Office and Lecture Complex at the Permanent Site Campus of the University.
While declaring the training open, the Vice-Chancellor of Federal University of Lafia, Professor Shehu Abdul Rahman, said the training was intended to raise the quality of FULafia graduates.
“We must set standards for lecturers and students to produce high-quality graduates,” Abdul Rahman stated.
He urged lecturers to take advantage of the training to benefit maximally, saying: “I have already mandated the Professors’ Forum to monitor academic activities and that also include monitoring of lectures, setting examination questions and preparing marking scheme.”
Abdul Rahman appealed to senior lecturers to mentor the younger ones “so that they can add value to the system.”
Earlier, in his remarks, the Chairman, of the Academic Monitoring Committee of the Professors Forum, Professor Ali Is’haq Shugaba, represented by Prof. Mallam Albishak, commended the vice-chancellor for his exceptional leadership style, pointing out that the training was in line with the vice-chancellor’s dream of making FULafia the fifth best in Africa.
