The Federal University of Lafia (FULafia) Students Affairs Directorate has organised students orientation programme for 100-level students to prepare them on how to answer examinations questions.
The orientation exercise, which held at 500-seat Auditorium, Permanent Site Campus, was aimed at providing students opportunities to understand the need to be focused before and during examinations.
Speaking on the topic: “How to Prepare for and Answer University Examination”, Mrs. Ene B. Adoda, a staff at the directorate, explained that exercise was meant to educate students on how to approach, and have confidence while answering, examination questions.
While advising the fresh students to avoid getting panicky and concentrate during examinations, she encouraged them to remove phobia and create more time out of their normal class hours for studies, adding that “examination is a rigorous activities you must pass through.”
Adoda, who dwelt extensively on the topic advised students to “arrive the (examination) venue early in order to get psychologically stable, saying that panicking and anxiety could destabilise students.
“Do not engage in examination malpractice as this may destabilise you for the rest of the exam,” she said, adding: “Do self-check for incriminating materials or paper of any sort to avoid being implicated.
Do not bring your Phone(s) to examinations hall, rather, bring wrist watch to time yourself during examinations.
“Fill the cover page, where necessary (e.g. matriculation number and number of questions answered in the order you answered them, e.g. question 5, 4 and 3). Write your matriculation number on every page of your answer sheet immediately it’s given to you. Read the instructions on your question paper very carefully.”
The orientation exercise featured contributions from students and other support staff of the directorate.
