FULafia emerges 6, 7th at AfriHackBox competition

The Federal University of Lafia (FULafia) has won the sixth and seventh positions in the recently concluded AfriHackBox Cyber Security competition.
The competition was tagged: “Cybersecure Africa Summit 2024.”
The event, which was aimed at enhancing cybersecurity skills across Africa, took place at the Alliance Française, Ikoyi, Lagos.
FULafia was represented at the AfriHackBox competition by teams FULafia Wakanda and FULafia JHACK.
Mr Tasiu Kwaplong Saeed, a master’s degree student from the Department of Computer Science, FULafia, was the leader of the two teams.
Other students included George Imhandegbelo, Prosper Emmanuel Otuogbai, Mercy Amaefule Chimnonso, Abdullahi Abduljalal Shama, Bowofola Osemudismen Juwon.
The FULafia Wakanda and FULafia JHack teams clintched sixth and seventh positions, respectively, out of the 42 universities that participated in the competition.
AfriHackBox is a pioneering pan-African brand focused on cybersecurity, designed to empower, innovate, and secure the digital landscape across Africa.
It is a platform that offers comprehensive cybersecurity training, tech security challenges, and hackathons, targeting all Africans living across the globe.
Presenting the award to the Vice-Chancellor of FULafia, Professor Shehu Abdul Rahman, in his office, the participants expressed their gratitude to him and their lecturers for supporting them to win the prizes.
Represented by the Dean and Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Computing, Dr Jeffery Ovey Agushaka and Dr Moses Timothy, the students promised to continue to do the University proud in future competitions.
Receiving the award, Abdul Rahman congratulated the students, saying that their victory was a result of hard work, creativity and commitment to the core values of the University, namely, Integrity, Innovation and Excellence.
While advising the students to work harder to clinch the top position in subsequent competitions, the vice-chancellor called on other students to work hard and win more awards for themselves and the University.
The students were presented a certificate of achievement by Mr. Babatunde and Mr. Olayemi Oyeniyi, the directors of the AfriHackBox, for winning the sixth and seventh positions at the end of the competition.
