FULafia V-C condoles Nasarawa State Government, Eggon nation over Aren Eggon’s demise

The Vice-Chancellor, Federal University of Lafia (FULafia), Professor Shehu Abdul Rahman, has led the Management and other staff of the University to condole with the people of Nassarawa Eggon over the demise of the Aren Eggon and Chairman, Nassarawa Eggon Traditional Council, Dr Bala Abaine Angbazo JP. MFR.
The late monarch died as a result of protracted illness at the age of 89 after he spent 41 years on the throne.
Speaking at palace of the late monarch, the vice-chancellor described the death of the Aren Eggon as a great loss to the family of the deceased, Eggon nation, Nasarawa State and Nigeria as a whole.
He urged people to take solace in the fact that the late Dr. Bala Abaine Angbazo left “legacies of love and peace worthy of emulation.”
The vice-chancellor said that the late monarch was among the most respected royal fathers in the country, adding that his contributions to peace, unity and progress of his domain, the state and the country would not be forgotten.
Prof. Abdul Rahman lamented that the nation has lost the royal father at a time when his wise counsel and experience were needed to address some of the socio-economic and security challenges bedeviling the country.
He prayed God to grant the soul of the late Angbazo eternal rest and comfort his family, the Eggon nation, people of the state and the nation over the loss of the late traditional ruler.
In his response, His Royal Highness, Alhaji Usman Galadima Umbugadu, the Aren Akun, who received the FULafia delegation on behalf of the traditional council, thanked the FULafia vice-chancellor and members of the University community for their show of concern and respect, describing the late Aren Eggon as a father to all.
He said: “He was a father to all and that was what he represented when he was alive, he was a generous man of no comparisons.
“On behalf of the Angbazo’s family, Nasarawa Eggon Traditional Council, Nasarawa State Council of Chiefs, the government and people of Nasarawa State, we are very grateful for this important condolence visit, we look forward to continued good working relationship between the Nasarawa Eggon Traditional Council and Federal University of Lafia.”
Those who received the FULafia delegation at the palace included Prof Lazarus Angbazo, and some traditional rulers in Nasarawa Eggon Local Government Area.
The FULafia Vice-chancellor was accompanied on the visit by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Idris Amali, Registrar, Malam Nuradeen Abdul, Bursar, Mr. Daniel Wilson, Librarian, Dr. Abiodun Iyoro, Dean, School of Postgraduate Studies, Prof. Victor Dugga, Special Assistant to the Vice-Chancellor, Musa Agbawu, and Chief Security Officer, Wing Comdr. Umar Mohammed Awe.
