FULafia VC Tasks New CCEPD Students on Focus, Discipline

The vice-chancellor, Federal University of Lafia, (FULafia) Professor Shehu Abdul Rahman has appealed to the newly admitted students of Part-time Degree Programme (PTDP) of the Centre for Continuing Education and Professional Development (CCEPD) to be focused, disciplined and uphold the institution’s academic and moral standards.
Abdul Rahman who made this known on Friday October 15, 2021, at the Adamu Adamu Lecture Halls and Office Complex, during the occasion of orientation ceremony for the third set of PTDP students, advised them to distinguished themselves as matured students and also keep the flag of the university flying by aligning themselves to its vision and mission.
“Let me assure you that FULafia is prepared to ensure you get the best and a very rewarding experience throughout your period here”. He said.
Abdul Rahman equally informed the students that the university’s monthly sanitation excierse is in force in other to have clean and conducive atmosphere of learning, adding that they should always dress modesty as the management will not tolerate any act of indecent dressing on campus.
He advised them to be security concious, warning them that “the management takes discipline as a serious issue, we shall not condone any act of indiscipline, misconduct, violence and other social vices.”
The vice chancellor further commended Dr. Hudu Sambo, the Ag. Director (CCEPD) and his staff for ensuring that the university have achieve it set goals and objectives.
In his welcome address, the Director of the CCEPD, Dr. Hudu Sambo assured the PTDP students, that the centre has put in place various resources to enable them complete their studies and accomplish their dreams of becoming a graduate.
Sambo said the CCEPD which was established alongside PTDP in 2018 with the enrollment of 558 students has now grown to over 2000 registered students with eight programmes.
He said over 850 students have so far been admitted for 2020/2021 academic session, urging them to behave maturely “While you are here, do not forget to work hard and maintain discipline as enshrined in the code of conduct and the matriculation Oath you have subscribed to. The university has zero tolerance for anti-social behaviour and lackluster academic performance”.
He disclosed that “plans are in motion to propose new courses to further broaden the academic opportunity to prospectives candidates.
Sambo further advised them to familiarise with the learning system and be guided by their level coordinators adding that, “they will give the best academic direction as you go along.”
Paper presentation at the event includes; “Library system in the university” by the university Liberian Abiodum Iyaro; “university and it’s environ present security related issues” by chief security officer, Wing Commander (rtd) Umar M. Awe; Dr Musa Y. Dalhatu, “Examination Misconduct and other related offences in FULafia”; Dr Asom Gaga, “the relevance of general study courses in Nigeria universities” and Mr Agustine Idom Magom, “students registration process, results and conducts during their stay in FULafia.”
