FULafia V-C espouses significance of NVMA

Federal University of Lafia (FULafia) seeks to collaborate with the Nigerian Veterinary Medical Association (NVMA) in the areas of research and training of students and capacity building of staff.
The Vice-Chancellor of FULafia, Professor Shehu Abdul Rahman, stated this intention when the executive members of the Nigerian Veterinary Medical Association (NVMA), led by its Nasarawa State Branch Chairman, Dr Mukhtar Sabuwa, paid him a courtesy visit, at his office in Lafia.
Abdul Rahman, who was delighted by the visit, said that he was happy to meet with the NVMA officials to discuss partnership between the association and FULafia.
He said that in the University, the welfare of workers and enhancing their productivity were considered important, pointing out that workers promotions were never delayed.
The Nigerian Veterinary Medical Association was established to encourage the study, advancement and improvement of the practice of veterinary medicine.
Speaking earlier, the leader of the delegation, Dr Sabuwa, said that the association was at the vice-chancellor’s office to appreciate him for the establishment of Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and giant strides recorded by the University under his leadership.
It would be recalled that, recently, the Senate of the University has approved the establishment of the faculty of veterinary medicine and the Governing Council of FULafia ratified the decision.
He described the vice-chancellor as a visionary leader and achiever whose works speak loudly for themselves.
Sabuwa described the profession of veterinary medicine as a noble one, known globally for service delivery, research, teaching and control of infectious diseases in animals.
Other members of the NMVA delegation who were at the event included the Vice Chairman of NMVA, Nasarawa State Branch, Dr Abubakar Ladan, Secretary, Dr Sabo Bulus Atsema, Financial Secretary, Dr Joel O. Abel, Head of Veterinary Hospital, Dr Sarah Idah, Director of Veterinary Services, Dr Musa Abdullahi, former Director of Veterinary Services, Dr Emmanuel O. Sunday, Prof. M.D. Salisu and Dr Adamu El-Orji.
