Abdul Rahman visits new NUC boss, prays for successful tenure

The Vice- Chancellor, Federal University of Lafia (FULafia), Professor Shehu Abdul Rahman, recently, visited the National Universities Commission (NUC) to heartily congratulate Professor Abdullahi Yusufu Ribadu on his appointment as the Executive Secretary of the Commission.
Ribadu, former visiting professor in the National Universities Commission (NUC), was appointed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the substantive 9th Executive Secretary of the Commission in December, 2024.
A statement issued by the the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Mr. Bayo Onanuga said: “President Tinubu appointed Professor Abdullahi Yusufu Ribadu, an erstwhile Visiting Professor at the NUC and an expert in veterinary reproduction, as the organisation’s Executive Secretary.”
The president highlighted his confidence in Prof. Ribadu’s ability to bring transformative changes to the NUC.
“With his proven track record, Prof. Ribadu will provide the leadership needed to fulfill Nigerians’ expectations for quality and innovative higher education,” the President was quoted saying in the statement.
Ribadu has served as vice-chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, Yola, and Sule Lamido University, Jigawa State.
Speaking during his visit to the NUC, Abdul Rahman said Ribadu’s wealth of experience in academic leadership would drive reforms in the nation’s university system.
Abdul Rahman prayed to Allah to guide Ribadu in his newly assigned role, expressing his hope that the nation’s universities would benefit from his leadership.
The new executive secretary of the NUC took over from the then acting executive, Mr. Chris J. Maiyaki.
