The Registrar, Federal University of Lafia (FULafia), Nuradeen Abdu, has advised staff to be dedicated to their duties for the overall development of the University.
He advised them, as well, to be conscious of the time they resume and close from work, saying that any act of irresponsibility would not be tolerated under his watch.
Abdu spoke when he visited offices at both the permanent and take-off campuses of the University to ascertain level of compliance to an earlier statement issued by his office calling on staff to resume and close from work 8:00a.m. and 4:00p.m., respectively.
He said that as a human resource manager, the optimum performance of the University workforce was his priority.
The registrar, who did not hide his disappointment over the attitude of some staff who resumed late to work, said that such unhealthy attitude must end.
Addressing some members of staff after his visit to offices, the registrar urged them to show seriousness to their duties and contribute positively to the development of the University.
He said: “There won’t be any positive development in the University if this attitude of coming late and dereliction of duty continues.”
The registrar said that the management would, henceforth, not condone lateness and absenteeism to work, saying those caught coming late would have themselves to blame.
He, therefore, advised staff fond of coming to office late and closing before official time to desist from doing so and change for the good of the University and themselves.
He said: “Please, let’s join our hands and work together for the betterment of this University because it’s only by working together, responsibly, that we can develop and make this University one of the best in Africa.”
He noted that the process of realising the vice-chancellor’s objective of making FULafia one of the best in the world “must start with staff attitudinal change.”
Speaking separately, some of the staff interviewed by the FULafia Bulletin appreciated the registrar for his advise, promising to be of good behaviours.
In his remark, the Personal Secretary to the Vice-Chancellor, Mr. Bashir Ozomata, thanked the registrar for reminding staff of their cardinal responsibilities, saying that “workers need to make this University a shining example to others.”
He said that “if the University wants to achieve its objective, every staff must work as they should.”
Ozomata called on the heads’ of units to make sure that the registrar’s directives were adhered to.
