I’ll remain committed to my blueprint – V-C Abdul Rahman

Professor Shehu Abdul Rahman, the Vice-Chancellor of Federal University of Lafia (FULafia), has reiterated his commitment to stick to his blueprint for the transformation of the University.
The vice-chancellor stated so during an interview with the Nasarawa Today Magazine.
The interview session was led by the Editor-in-Chief of the magazine, Danmusa Muhammed.
The interview took place at the office of the vice-chancellor in Lafia.
Abdul Rahman said: “When I came on board as the vice-chancellor of FULafia, I noticed that my predecessor has done well in the area of infrastructure, but I realised that a lot needed to be done in the area of human capital development.”
The vice-chancellor said that to promote quality of teaching and learning, the three major management instruments, namely, planning, policy and committee system as encapsulated in his blueprint must be adhered to strictly.
He said that to improve the quality of the system and human capital development, emphasis should be placed on training and retraining of staff for maximum productive, adding: “Today, we have virtually trained all category of staff to address their areas of deficiencies.”
He said that he had introduced monthly sanitation exercise to make the environment hygienic.
He disclosed that within two years of his sterwardship he has promoted deserving academics, adding that “we want every individual to participate in the task of development of the University.”
Abdul Rahman said that despite the daunting challenges, his administration has attracted funds for the development of the University, particularly through resources mobilisation, pledging to build a sustainable academic culture, good mentoring schemes and enhance research activities.
Abdul Rahman commended the state government for playing a key role in the development process of the University, citing the recent role played by Governor Abdullahi A. Sule that led to the establishment of the FULafia teaching hospital by the Federal Government.
