The Chairman, Governing Council of the Federal University of Lafia (FULafia), Professor Munzali Jibril, has expressed his satisfaction with the turnout of people during the presentation of a book written in honour of the immediate past vice-chancellor of the University.
He said that the turnout for the occasion was “very impressive.”
The book, titled: “Beyond Expectations: The biography of Prof liman,” was written by the incumbent Vice-Chancellor of FULafia, Prof. Shehu Abdul Rahman, in collaboration with Prof. Mallam Al-Bishak, the Director of Advancement and Linkages Directorate.
The book was presented by the Andoma of Doma, Alhaji Ahmadu Aliyu Ogah, at the Ta’al Conference Hotel, Lafia.
The book presentation event was timed to coincide with clocking of the vice-chancellor’s first 100 days in office.
Munzali Jibril, represented by a member of the FULafia Governing Council, Alhaji Tijjani Musa Isa, said that the council appreciated what Liman did, especially in the areas of internal generation of revenues and physical projects.
He urged the former vice-chancellor to support the incumbent with ideas and advises on how to move the University further.
He praised Abdul Rahman for his already demonstrated sterling leadership qualities, saying that the vice-chancellor emerged through a credible and transparent process.
“The vice-chancellor did not lobby anybody to be appointed. The governing council was above board, there was no inducement by anyone. The FULafia Governing Council is one of the very few councils where there was no case of inducement in the process of electing a new vice-chancellor. This is the quality of council that we have and this is the quality of the vice-chancellor that we have.”
Munzali noted that the “three fundamental issues facing any vice-chancellor are admission, contract and appointment,” saying there was “nothing wrong in giving all these but they must be given based on merit.”
He advised the vice-chancellor to be fair and just in the tasks ahead of him.
He thanked everyone for gracing the occasion and prayed that the book should be a source of inspiration for generations to come.
He wished Liman the best in his future endeavours.
